Traverse City, MI (September 21, 2020) - Chasing a dream comes easy at the American Gold Cup, and it seems 24-year-old Gabriela Reutter of Lumiere Horses is well on her way to her dream, according to commentator, international Grand Prix competitor, and judge Jimmy Torano. Reutter marked a number of milestones towards her goal of being the second ever woman to represent her native Chile at an Olympic Games, with her two FEI horses at one of the United States' most prestigious shows. Jumping brilliant rounds with Atticus Diamant and Maharees Rock, Reutter marked her first 2020 FEI 4-star finish and put in many strides of practice and patience towards her long-term show jumping goals.

The prior week of competition in Traverse City leading up to the final four-star week was very productive for Reutter: during the 2-star (September 2-6), Maharees Rock (aka Rocky) finished fourth in the 1.40M, showing speed and precision in the jump-off. The 10-year-old bay Irish Sport Horse mare has proven herself to be a promising young Grand Prix horse, and the 2020 American Gold Cup would be her first 4-star classes. She and Reutter had just a single rail in both FEI 1.45M during four-star week.

Atticus Diamant (aka Monty) mirrored Rocky's performance in the FEI 1.45M during 4-star week. The scopey 11-year-old Selle Français gelding was formerly ridden briefly by both Beezie Madden and Jonathan Corrigan, but has gone the farthest with Reutter at the reins. The pair had just a few rails in the FEI American Gold Cup Grand Prix qualifier, and the Grand Prix over a very technical course designed by Jorge Guilherme Nogueira. Reutter's riding through the triple and the overall success of her round drew praise from commentator Jimmy Torano.

"She's jumping a brilliant round here today," Torano notes during Reutter and Monty's trip in the Grand Prix. "What a fantastic horse to move up the levels with, and she's well on her way to representing Chile...I like the way she rode through the triple, taking control and being very effective with her riding."

Both horses were great in the American Gold Cup," said Reutter. "Rocky has shown massive improvement and is quickly learning the ropes of the upper levels. I couldn't be happier with her. Monty is my heart horse and he gives me the confidence to tackle tough courses and gain the experience I need to then teach Rocky how to do the same. This was only my second 4-star, with the first being over a year ago, and Rocky's first ever. We all received a massive amount of experience and plan to use that to move forward in our next classes."

Reutter's passion for equestrian sport began at a young age, and has since taken her to the upper echelons of show jumping. Combining talent, horsemanship, and dedication to her dreams, she rides with the aspiration of representing Chile at the pinnacle of show jumping sport. Born in Santiago, Chile, Gaby began riding at only four years old. At 17, she moved to the United States to pursue a professional show jumping career. Since 2014, she has ridden under the guidance of Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist Chris Kappler, and is completing her undergraduate degree in Economics and Business Studies at NYU.

To date, Gaby has multiple top finishes in international FEI classes, from the U25 Grand Prix divisions to victory in an FEI 4-star event. She currently campaigns her two show jumpers, Atticus Diamant (aka Monty) and Maharees Rock (aka Rocky), at the FEI level. Both had excellent results during WEF 2020, and you can read more about Gaby’s horses here. Her international equestrian CV also includes Spruce Meadows, The Hampton Classic, and several junior/young rider South American Games. In 2018, Reutter received her certificate of capability for the Pan American Games following a top 3 finish in the FEI 3-star 1.50M Captive One Classic.
